The Orange Ridged Starfish, echinaster spinulosus, also known as the Orange Sea Star has a characteristic orange, yellow, brown, or orange and black body covered in small ridges and bumps giving it a classic look that is instantly recognizable. The Orange Ridged Starfish requires a tank with plenty of live rock and a sandy substrate, constant salinity, away from puffers or other natural predators, and in a tank with plenty of algae and microorganisms for the starfish to eat its omnivorous diet. It is reef safe with caution as small specimens will not harm any other species. Once they grow larger though they do pose a threat to anemones, clams, and other invertebrates.

NOTE: Never expose starfish to the air as this can be deadly for them, always drip acclimate, or acclimate slowly to your tank levels.
