The Nerite Snail, Nerita sp., is one of the most hardy, useful, and intricate snails out there. Their shells protect them from predators. Indigenous to the Caribbean, the Nerite Snail are wonderful scavengers that will graze rocks and tank walls for algae. Nerite Snails require very little attention and will thrive so long as your tank has some level of algae growth. As Nerite Snails are prodigious climbers, it is highly recommended to have a closed lid as the snail can climb out.
