Eastern Fiddler Ray - Australia
The Eastern Fiddler Ray, also known as Trygonorrhina fasciata, is a distinctive species found along the southern coast of Australia. It is characterized by its flattened body and prominent, paddle-shaped pectoral fins, which resemble a pair of fiddler crab's claws, lending it its name. These large rays inhabit sandy and seagrass-bottomed areas, where they feed primarily on crustaceans and small fish.

The Eastern Fiddler Ray "Trygonorhina fasciata" is a unique species of Guitarfish which are in the same family as sharks and stingrays. They are a hard to come by species and require a very large tank with select tank mates as they will eat small fish and crustaceans and need a deep sand bed to thrive. They can grow up to 50 inches, or over 4 feet in length, and require a tank of at least 500 gallons with adequate filtration as they also produce a large amount of waste and excess nitrates from their diet. Their diet should consist of fish, squid, crabs, clam, and other meaty foods with 1-2 heavy feedings per day.
