This Open Brain Coral, Trachyphyllia geoffroyi, is one of the
most stunning and accessible examples of LPS brain coral throughout the
aquarium trade. Unsurprisingly, given its name, the Trachyphyllia geoffroyi resembles
an open brain with its various tissues and colorations exposed. This
hardy coral can live for very long periods of time - not uncommon for
15+ years. It is a photosynthetic coral but will readily take direct
feeding of meaty foods. It is recommended to be placed towards the
bottom of your tank, have moderate waterflow, and moderate to high
levels of light. Overall the Trachyphyllia geoffroyi is one of the best LPS corals for beginners and experts alike due to its relative ease of care and visual aesthetic qualities.
