The Birdbeak Burrfish (Cyclichthys orbicularis), also known as the Orbiculate Burrfish, is endemic to the Indo-Pacific Ocean and Red Sea. They have an orange or brown body with dark splotches and white spines. They are nocturnal, typically hiding among coral and sponges in the day, and searching for algae and invertebrates at night. They should be housed in fish only tanks with fish of similar size and temperament. They may nip at corals or small fish, so they are not recommended for reef tanks. Reaching a maximum size of 12 inches, they should be housed in aquariums with at least 150 gallons, and require a well balanced diet of meaty foods and algae.
